Susan Scott was standing in her kitchen in Captiva in 2010, getting ready for a dinner party, When she got a call out of the blue asking if she would like to take part in the inaugural Dancing with the Island Stars fundraiser.
“Sure, why not,” she said, which was rather brave of her as she had no experience in any type of dancing.
After training for three months, she scored three perfect 10?s on her cha cha routines and was thrilled by her night on the dance floor. A fire had been lit, and she has been dancing and promoting dance – ever since.Scott launched Enchanted Ballroom at the Promenade in Bonita Springs in April, 2014, one year after she opened the
doors of her flagship Enchanted Ballroom studio on Sanibel Island.
“This has been so inspiring,” she said. “Everyone who comes in loves it. It changes peoples lives. I’ve lost 20 pounds and never been healthier in my life!”Their catchy Nike-like motto is: “Dance First… Think Later.”
Enchanted Ballroom is tailored to fit everyone from beginners to advanced dancers. People come for all kinds of reasons – preparing for a special event, rehabbing an injury, looking for fun exercise, or seeking new friendships. They teach American & International smooth and rhythm dancing, including Argentine Tango. Enchanted Ballroom offers private lessons, group classes, workshops and dance parties.
“Private lessons are customized and designed for you or a couple,” Said Scott. “They provide one-on-one attention with your dance instructor. These lessons are structured specifically for you and are designed to help you maximize your dancing goals…….
With a Group Class, reservations are not necessary and singles are always welcome. You will learn basic steps, technique and footwork, styling and fancier patterns.”
The Bonita location for Enchanted Ballroom is headlined by European champion Stefan Zhivkov, who is as gifted as a teacher as a dancer. He is good at making people feel comfortable their first time out.
